  • Work More Efficiently With Less Stress

Do you find yourself always late for appointments? Do you feel your work is overly demanding? Is there never enough time? Is your work/life balance out of kilter?

If the answer is yes to any of those questions, attendance on a Meditation to Mindfulness Workshop will begin the process of change. You can work more efficiently. You can redress your work/life balance. You can ease the demands placed upon you.

The greater control we have over our minds, the better able we are, at managing our time.

In order to use powerful tools safely and effectively, we often need proper training. You wouldn’t put an angle grinder into the hands of someone who didn’t have an appreciation of how best to use its power

The simplest solutions are always the most powerful

Consider a pair of scissors. Two moving parts. Two pivoted sharp blades. Simple and effective. We can trace back over thousands of years to when scissors were first developed. They’ve changed very little in their design over all this time. That’s because their design is near enough perfect and can’t be broken down any further in its simplicity. However, don’t be fooled into thinking simple is easy.

If the blades on scissors aren’t sharpened properly, they won’t cut as they should. If the pivot is too tight or too loose, they won’t cut properly. A really good pair of scissors can work out fairly expensive and for good reason.

For this reason, simple tools must be respected. An appreciation of how challenging it can be to invent simple, powerful tools that work effectively awards them great value. What we undervalue we often dismiss as useless. In this respect, always be guarded at what you give away for free. In the process of your philanthropy, you’ll be diminishing the power of what you give away. We only have to think of how money is often undervalued when very little effort has been expended to get it.

I will be running my Meditation to Mindfulness Workshops from September this year

We never run with scissors. We use this tool slowly and respectfully. The same applies to tools that develop the mind. We use them slowly and respectfully. In this way, we can fully appreciate the power of simple.

  • Remove the cancer of negativity

    Negativity
Think about dreams. Think about their symbolic nature. More than symbolic, we could even go as far as saying our dreams, are metaphorical

Dreams are the language of the unconscious. Taking this one step further, what other methods of communication does the unconscious utilise? Our unintentional, or unconscious behaviour, is of course a form of communication to others. So what about the unconscious communication our mind uses, along with dreams, to speak directly to our consciousness? It’s important to consider the symbolic, metaphorical nature, of unconscious communication.

Gilbert Ryle condescendingly referred to René Descartes‘ concept of mind-body dualism as: “The Ghost In The Machine.” It’s also certainly clear to me, no duality exists between body and mind, hence the term ‘bodymind’ found elsewhere, in this blog. As such, when we look closely at this inseparable and complex link, we can safely say, the unconscious communicates in any way it possibly can.

When we see dis-ease as a clear communication from the bodymind, we’re on the right track to taking full control, of our lives. What do you imagine – with everything said so far – is the bodymind looking to communicate, through the dis-ease of cancer? What metaphorical meaning can we attribute to a cell that won’t die; a cell that refuses to stop replicating itself? Can we consider this cells refusal to die, a metaphor, for not letting go? You bet we can.

It’s important we understand the necessity in letting go of negativity. Repetitive, negative thoughts and memories, are the product of a mind that refuses to let go. We must understand the message our bodymind sends us. Cancer is a clear message: Let go of the negatives from the past

Some might say forgiveness is the tool needed for this letting go. I say forget forgiveness, we now have better tools, at our disposal. When we truly let go of the past, forgiveness becomes irrelevant. When we’re able to fully and completely move on, through dropping the past – as you’d drop a piece of rotten wood – we free ourselves of a negative future. That’s right, I repeat: We free ourselves of a negative future.

    Remove the cancer of negativity

  • Perseverance

Whatever it is you want, regardless of knock-backs, difficulties, or circumstances, perseverance is the quality always required in order to succeed

We might ask the deeper question: What is required for us to have perseverance? Is this a quality some just naturally have, or is it something acquired? I feel there is a certain recipe that will help us here.

Firstly, we must have passion. We must want the desired outcome passionately. Secondly, we must be able to keep the mind present and focused on the desired outcome. Dwelling on past failures is the fire, which turns perseverance to ashes.

It really is a matter of ensuring our improvement isn’t hampered with thoughts of past performance. Be it a frame of snooker, a game of tennis, or gaining a qualification, dwelling on the last frame, game, or test will distract from the mater in hand: Winning.

We humans love to win. We know that in order to win, we must be better than all the rest. Yes, we need natural talent. Nevertheless, no matter how much natural talent we possess, believing we can simply win without perseverance and practice leads to disappointment.

We have to continually put the past where it belongs and keep going, on and on, regardless of how we might feel or whatever circumstances we might be facing. This is perseverance.

Unless dealt with, limiting aspects of the past can be an echo that never fades

Recognizing how the past can unconsciously influence the present is most certainly a skill we can learn. Briefly examining limiting behaviour is key. We must ask: How do I continue to replicate mistakes of the past?

As odd as it might sound, understanding how we failed at our goals in the past can help us to eliminate unconscious limitations in the now.

The unconscious mind will persevere in whatever direction it is focused. We must ensure it is correctly focused. Our beliefs come into play here, and perseverance is required if we’re to question and change them. Once the past is dealt with, limiting beliefs removed and unfinished business concluded, we’re better able to direct the energy of our perseverance with the correct focus: Upward and onward.
